Mrs. Emilia “Millie” Ramirez was called home to the Lord on the 24th of May 2024, at the age of 91. Born on the 28th of February 1933, in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas, Millie was a beacon of love and faith throughout her blessed life, and it was in this same city she peacefully entered eternal rest.
Millie was a woman of grace and dignity. She was the beloved wife of Eduardo Ramirez, and was a cherished mother to her sons, Eugene Gongora (Lorra) and Eddie Ramirez Jr. (Cindy) She was a guiding light to her grandchildren, Michael Gongora (Jackie), Jesse Ramirez, Erica Gongora, Nathan Gongora (Kristle), Carissa Vela (David) and Aiden Ramirez. She was blessed to see the sparkle of the future in her great-granddaughter Sophia Gongora. Millie was preceded in joining the Lord by brother Arturo Mendivil, sister Maria Luisa Rodriguez, brother Trinidad Parada, and her precious great-granddaughter Makenzie Gongora. She is survived by sister Lola Garcia, brother-in-law Jose Garcia and sisters-in-law Bertha Teer and Anita Ramirez. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Millie's life was a testament to the power of education. She was a proud graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic School and furthered her knowledge at St. Mary's University. Millie dedicated 35 years of her life to civil service, where her commitment to her community shone brightly. Her selfless service in various ministries at Holy Rosary Parish and the Mexican American Cultural Center were recognized with the Marianist Award from the Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio, a true reflection of her faith-filled life.
To describe Millie is to speak of love, for she embodied the very essence of it. She was faith-filled, walking hand in hand with the Lord every step of her journey. Her selflessness was a beacon that guided her family and community, illuminating the path of service and compassion.
May we carry forward the lessons of love, faith, and selflessness Millie taught us. Her spirit lives on in each of us: in every kind word spoken, in every act of charity, and in every moment, we choose to dance through life's challenges. We are eternally grateful for the time we were blessed to share with Millie, and her light will forever shine in our hearts.
Services for Millie will be held on Monday June 3rd at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (159 Camino Santa Maria, San Antonio TX) beginning at 9:30AM with a viewing, Rosary at 10:20AM and Mass at 11:00AM. A brief reception will follow the mass in the Holy Rosary Parish Hall.
