Enloe Dewey "Stoney" Stone, age 94, (Master Sergeant, USAF, Ret.) passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Barnardsville, Buncombe County, North Carolina on May 27, 1928, to Garrett and Nettie Allen Stone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his seven brothers and sisters and his first wife, Rose Marie Hogan Stone. He is survived by his wife, Rose Hernandez-Stone, daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Glenn Gagliardi; Terresa and Roderick Bayeur; son and daughter in law Jesse and Lisa Moliski Ayala; grandchildren: Michelle and her husband, Bernard Trice; Jason Gagliardi.; Xavier and Jane Ayala; and great grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Trice.
He lived his life in service, first to his country and then to his families. Through his Air Force service, he was able to travel and see the world with his wife and daughters. His longevity can be contributed to clean living, hard work and good home and family life. His life was truly an example, worthy of a special place in Heaven. He retired from two careers: military and banking, where he was an executive in computer information systems in its earliest stages. He raised two families and was universally beloved by anyone who knew him. He was kind, gentle, funny, interesting, smart, intellectually curious and a man of the highest integrity, honesty, and dignity. He loved gardening, cooking, working around the house, and his beloved late cat, Scooter. He will be missed forever by all who were fortunate enough to truly know him.
After his divorce, he remarried and raised a second family, this time with a young son whom he loved and nurtured as his own from day one. A wonderful dad and grandfather, his children and grandchildren were the light in his eyes, and he gave them sage advice, love, and laughter. His dry wit and sense of humor was often the center of family gatherings and although his presence will all be with us, he will be sorely missed. Taken too soon, this wonderful, loving, gentle man will forever remain in the hearts and minds of his family.
Stoney will be missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 10:30AM - 11:30AM., Monday, August 15, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuaries.
