
Reverend Ernest G. Zepeda, retired Deacon, entered into his spiritual home Saturday, August 19. He was a brave and valiant warrior with his battle against cancer. Ernest Gerard Zepeda, son of Modesto and Juanita Schilling Zepeda, was born January 25, 1919 in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in San Antonio. Ernest was a devoted son and during the Depression years worked with his father and brothers in construction to support the family. He attended St. Henry's Catholic School, and Brackenridge High School. He was a loyal and faithful member of St. Henry's, St. Leo's, St. Andrew'Lytle, Texas, St. Joseph South San, Blessed Sacrament and was a founding member of Holy Spirit and St. Mark's parishes. Ernest is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Guadalupe Cristina Salazar Zepeda and his daughter, Laura Louise Zepeda Kirby, his parents, Modesto and Juanita, his brothers, Henry, Richard, Victor, and his sister, Amelia Henarie. He is survived by his sweet and loving wife of 17 years, Dolly Irwin Zepeda, his children Sister Elia Guadalupe Rebecca in the Carmelite Monastery in Lafayette, Louisiana, Dr. Maria Cristina Zepeda of Maryville, Tennessee, Ernest Gerard Zepeda and wife Jan of San Antonio, Sylvia Rosenda Zepeda Valdez and husband Paul B. of Katy, Texas and son in law Joseph B. Kirby of Kingwood, Texas. His stepchildren are Terry and Donna Jean Cline of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Michael and Shirley Thomas of Boulder, Colorado, Jim Irwin of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania and Chuck and Nancy Irwin of Newtown, Pennsylvania. His sisters Ann Van Griner and Stella Sattelmaier both of San Antonio; brothers Alex Zepeda of Denton, Texas; Edmond Zepeda and Henry Zepeda of Washington. He was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Burial with military honors will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Serra Club, the Diaconate of the Diocese of San Antonio, Cancer Clinic of San Antonio, or the San Antonio Hospice.
