Esther was born in Taylor, Texas, September 11, 1926, and soon moved to San Antonio where she enjoyed having attended school. She went to Bowie Elementary, where she won best costume on senior kid day. She went to Mark Twain Middle School. She attended Fox Tech High School where she received awards in Pep Squad, and San Antonio College. She attended St. Mary's night school when it was downtown in back of St. Mary's church where she enjoyed Spanish and French classes. She also enjoyed attending Novena at ST. Mary's church on Fridays because the singing was beautiful.
Esther was a stenographer-typist at Lackland AFB for eight years until she married her husband, John Miller, November 29, 1952. Esther had three daughters and three sons and retired to the kitchen. After raising children and caring for the home for 20 years, she went to work at the San Antonio Airport gift shop where she met more people in one day than she met in five years being at home. Six years later she was employed by the agricultural extension service teaching nutrition to low income households.
John and Esther agreed on one vacation each year together so they traveled the U.S., Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Alaska, and most of Mexico. Esther had many happy moments to remember but her greatest tragedy was losing her fourteen year old son William in an accident. It took her 20 years to recover from the loss.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lorraine Noyes, Julia Miller, and Valerie Miller. She is also survived by her son, John (Jay) Miller, nine grandkids and one great grandchild. She is survived by her loving niece, Marylou Carrizales and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the dearest Mother, Grandmother, and loved one we could have ever wanted.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
