JULY 11, 1919 SEPTEMBER 25, 2009
Eugene Larkin, whom we all knew as "Bud", passed away at The Reserve at Balfour Senior Center on Friday the 25th of September, 2009. He was 90 years old. Bud was born July 11, 1919 to Lester and Anna Rudolph Larkin in Moorehead, Minnesota. In 1931, he and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Draughon's Business College and went on to become an auditor with Brook Army Medical Center and Fort Sam Houston until he retired as Section Chief in 1974. While working at BAMC he met Muriel Beuerlein who was a nurse in the Army. On July 10, 1948, they were married in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey and were married for 61 years. Bud enjoyed being with his family. They took many trips throughout the United States, camping along the way, and they also spent many weekends at their beach house in Port Aransas, Texas. He also had a passion for home improvement projects. Not only did Bud construct several additions on his family home, he also helped build his sister Ellen's house. Bud was also active in his son's life and volunteered with Little League Baseball, often as a coach. Bud and Muriel moved to Boulder Colorado in May of 2008 to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law. Both he and Muriel quickly adapted to the serenity of living in Boulder and the lovely new friends they made at Flatirons Terrace. Bud is survived by his wife Muriel, his son Ken and his wife, Kathleen, her two children, Jennifer and Brian, and grandson Colin. He is also survived by his brother James Larkin of San Antonio and his wife Anna. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Ellen Grose and Alice Otterstetter. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
