

Eugene (Gene) Tidwell passed away the morning of February 1st, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas due to heart related events. Gene was a kind, loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all. His devotion to, and love for, his family, and searching out his family roots were the essence and hallmark of his life. He was a Patriarch in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as a Bishop and District President. Gene and his wife, Leah Mae, served a Family History Mission for their church from 1998 to 1999 in SLC, UT.
He loved fishing and swimming, especially when done with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved golfing with his sons and grandchildren. He was a rocket scientist by profession, and worked on many government avionics and space projects.
Gene was born in Lehi, Utah on September 5, 1926 to Delbert Cleon and Vernett Webb Tidwell. He was married to Leah Mae Call on December 17, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple. Leah Mae passed away January 21, 2007. Gene is survived by his eight children and their spouses; Michael (Donna), Thomas (Linda), Anthony (Kathy), Julie Miller (Rick), Christopher (Jann), David (Leslie), Bruce (Dana), and Marietta Hardy (Todd). He is also survived by 29 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Knights Cross Chapel, 645 Knights Cross, San Antonio, TX, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.
A funeral will be held Feb. 9, 11AM at Mountainview Mortuary at 3115 E. 7800 S. Bengal Bend, Cottonwood Hts, UT, visitation at 10AM.
