On March 5th, our wonderful Mother and Grandma Evalyn Bain Grantham went to join her beloved Eddie, where they can be together again. Evalyn was born in Cotton Gin, Texas in 1913 and grew up in Teague, Texas. She was the daughter of a Baptist minister, and a graduate of Baylor University.
She met her husband, Ed Grantham, when they were both teaching in Dawson, Texas. They married before moving to San Antonio during World War II.
While working in various jobs using her business degree, Evalyn lovingly raised her small family. She was always there with her Eddie to support her family and her church community at Laurel Heights Methodist Church.
She was one of the original members and served on the board of the Bluebirds, who assist at the Methodist Hospital. She was also a founder and served as treasurer for the Super Adults at Laurel Heights. She was active in both of these groups well into her nineties.
Always cheerful, she was an inspiration and a delight to her family and friends.
A special thanks is given to Carmen and Anna of Lydia's Personal Care Home for the extraordinary care given her the last few years.
Preceded in death by her brother Lester F. Bain and husband Edward R. Grantham, Evalyn is survived by daughter Linda Patton and grandchildren Katherine and Mark.
We love you Mother, Grandma, and will miss you forever.
A private graveside ceremony was held.
