

She passed from this earth on July 22, 2005 in San Antonio, TX, just three months shy of her 93rd birthday.
She was 16 when she married Herman Haase to whom she was married for 46 years, and together they created a big family.
She lived an exemplary life, and was a charter member of Community Evangelical United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild and Hermann Sons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Haase in 1974 and by her daughter, Mary Margaret Haase in 1950.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Houston "Buster" Johnston of Gonzalez, TX. She was the mother of ten children, nine of whom have survived her: Jack Herman Haase, Thomas Haase, Patricia Ann Haase Steen Esparza, Robert James Haase, James Edward Haase, Martha Jane Haase Alva Jackson, Timothy Charles Haase, Henry Michael Haase and Deborah Kaye Haase Kennedy, and their spouses.
Oma, as she was known to family and friends, alike, had 28 grandchildren, 26 surviving her. She also had 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great- great-grandchildren.
Evelyn is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family mourns the passing of an amazingly strong and beautiful woman.
According to one son, "she was the glue that kept us together". We will continue to come together as a family to carry on and celebrate her legacy.
She lived a long and blessed life and she will be sorely missed
