With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce that Fanny Rodriguez Ruiz entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2025, at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home. Born on November 14, 1938, in Falfurrias, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Audelia Perez and Santos Rodriguez.
Fanny was a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith. A born-again Christian who loved Jesus with all her heart, she lived her life as a reflection of His love—always kind, compassionate, humble, and generous. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church, where she found joy in worship, fellowship, and service. Her walk with Christ was evident in the way she lived and loved, and she leaves behind a spiritual legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
A dedicated and retired 2nd grade Teacher at Coronado Elementary School on San Antonio’s South Side, Fanny spent decades shaping young hearts and minds. Her classroom was filled with warmth, creativity, and care. Her dedication was honored with the Teacher of the Year award—one of many reminders of the lives she touched with patience and purpose.
Beyond the classroom, Fanny was the heart and soul of her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, treasured grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. Known affectionately as “Nana,” she created a home overflowing with love, laughter, faith, and family traditions. Her cooking was legendary, her storytelling unforgettable, and her love unconditional.
Fanny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ruben Ruiz Sr.; her cherished sons, Ruben Ruiz Jr. and Stephen Lee Ruiz; and her beloved great- grandson, Jaiden Ellis Wong; and her sister, Teresa Villarreal(♰). Their memory remained close to her heart every day of her life.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patty Ruiz; Her sisters, Blanca Rodriguez, Micki Perez, and Mimi Shepherd; Her brother, Lamar Rodriguez; Her beloved granddaughters: Aurora Angelique Ruiz, Erica Tiffany Ruiz and husband Nate Smith, Amber Grace Muse, and Crystal Joy Ruiz; Her treasured great-grandsons: Joshua Seth Ruiz, Ethan Wayne Smith, William Skinner, and Jaiden Ellis Wong (♰); Her loving nieces and nephews: Marla Rodriguez, Susan Rodriguez, Kimberly Siguero, Kelly Cravey, Veronica Castillo, Scott Fillingham, John Villarreal, Luis Beltran, Debbie Salina, Julie Do, Jeff Ingleman and Carlos Shepherd.
Fanny touched every life she encountered—with a kind word, a generous heart, a lesson well taught, or a prayer spoken in love. Her legacy is one of service, joy, faith, and family. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones and in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ whom she so faithfully served.

The visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, 18755 Stone Oak Pkwy, San Antonio, Texas, 78258, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:30 p.m.
Pastor Boots Levine will officiate. Interment will follow in San Fernando #2 Cemetery.
