

Felisa A. Castillo was born on November 23, 1925 in Macarang, Philippine Islands to Basilisa and Gregorio Apostol. She grew up in the islands where she married Andres O. Castillo, a Filipino U.S Army soldier on her birthday, 1946. She raised her three oldest children, Rogelio, Josephine, and Charles, with the help of her two older sisters, Melia and Oling, and younger brother, Andres, while her husband was stationed elsewhere in the world.
In February 1957, the Castillo family embarked on the USNS Sultan, cruising for almost three weeks to eventually end up in San Antonio, TX where her husband was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. Here Annie Liza and Jeanette were born. Felisa continued her job as homemaker to raise her five children while learning a new way of life and language in the states. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and was a great cook of Filipino and other foods. She was also involved with the Filipino-Americans in San Antonio where she helped cook and sewed some of the dancers costumes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andres O. Castillo, her parents, her two sisters and one brother. Survivors include her children, Rogelio Castillo and wife JoAnne of Bedford, VA, Josephine Billingsley and ex- Allen of San Antonio, Charles Castillo and wife Barbara of Kissimmee, FL , Annie Liza Banks and husband Kelly of Bozeman, MT, and Jeanette McIntire and husband Brian of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Roger Castillo and wife April of Goode, VA, Dina Castillo of Herndon, VA, Michael Billingsley and wife Catherine of San Antonio, Brandon McIntire of San Antonio, Jennifer (Jenna) and Melissa Banks of Bozeman, MT; five great granddaughters, Lauren, Kelsey and Allie Castillo, Calysta Castillo, and Aria Billingsley.
Felisa passed away at home on March 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years young. She will be missed but not forgotten by all who loved her.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 9:45am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1114 Willow St, San Antonio, TX 78208 with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
