After a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Fidel Linares passed away on Monday, May 17th, 2021. Fidel maintained a positive outlook, even in the last stages of his fight and still enjoyed making those around him laugh with his quick wit and well timed jokes.
Fidel was born in New York City, and was raised in Tampa, FL most of his life. Fourteen years ago he moved to San Antonio, TX to retire. Mr. Linares was known by all as a man of integrity and strong work ethic. After serving in the Army for 6 years, Fidel earned a well deserved retirement after serving 38 years with the Postal Service in 2002. After retirement from the Postal Service, he worked at HEB and retired from there as well. While being retired, he loved competition and was a skilled player of poker, billiards, and dominoes.. He also enjoyed the beach, sharing laughs at large family gatherings, and coffee (he was never seen without a cup of coffee in his hand). This is not goodbye as we all look forward to reuniting in heaven. Until then we will do our best to carry on your strong spirit and lifelong legacy.
Fidel is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy Linares, sister Sylvia and is survived by his four children and their spouses: Fidel (Becky), Eric, Travis (Aimee) and John (Sany).
