What can you say about the great and wonderful Wiley, that someone has not already said, so I will say it this way? My life was blessed the day Wiley walked into my life. The world is a better place because Wiley touched so many lives and walked beside all of us. God has a special place in heaven for people like Wiley and I only hope I can walk beside him when I arrive. One thing for sure he will have a great story to tell and will be there to help, for Wiley never met a stranger he didn?t know a friend of theirs and was always helping people with out them asking or knowing. God bless Wiley and all his family.

The world is truly a darker place with Wiley gone. He helped me so much in my life, but more important, he taught me to look for the good in people. I will sorely miss him and carry him in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the family of Wiley Alexander. I am not a former co-worker, close friend of the family or a musician trying to hit it big--I'm a fan of Wiley's. I always enjoyed his column and hated to see it end. Wiley advised me of the sights and places I should visit on my first trip to Nashville in '94. When I returned, I told him of a group I saw while I was there and how I felt they were going to hit it big someday. When that group played their first big concert in SA, Wiley secured my friends and I backstage passes. We spent the evening with Wiley and the group, Lonestar. Wiley told us story after story of stars he'd interviewed, trips he'd taken and how much he enjoyed promoting local folks.

I will miss Wiley's great smile and greeting. He always greeted everyone with a smile. I remember some time we spent at the CMA Awards in Nashville and how excited he was to be there interviewing the stars. Wiley made everyone feel that they were special.

We are so saddened by the passing of Wiley Alexander. Wiley taught me so much in the industry by being honest, excited and dedicated to the music that we both loved so much. Wiley worked so hard for everyone from George Strait right down to the new artist just trying to get that first break. I will forever remember the generosity he shared with me through his knowledge and his time. His devotion to Country Music will far outlive his time on this earth. I will smile each time I think about his laugh and following him around-trying to keep up with his fast pace!! I was honored to receive the award that bears his name. He has now received his great reward in Heaven.

Words cannot say enough for this man of Country Music. I met Wiley at the very first benefit I every attended at the Hangin Tree and he was the most charming, funny,helpful person and a true country gentleman, I had ever met. No matter who talked to him that day whether big or small he listened very carefully to every word. He told me to keep smiling and laughing as thats what makes the Music world go round. I saw him not to long ago at a benefit and he asked me if I still went to the Hangin Tree to the benefits and to dance, I smiled and laughed and told him yes indeed I do, as a matter of fact I work there now. He laughed, and said keep up the good work. Wiley you will be truly missed not only by me, but the whole Country Music World and the big family you have at the Hangin Tree Saloon. Wiley was a funny guy who kept us loose, and laughing in the sports department. He really brightened up the day as our lead copy editor. I guess the most memorable saying he had came at dateline each day: "Hey, you romance women, not pages -- it's time to get those pages moving." He was a great guy, who I'm glad that I knew. Wiley was a wonderful brother-in-law and great uncle to my children. He was always there with a big smile and his great laughter filled the room. I write this with a heavy heart but my memories of him will always be uplifting. 
I am sure that Joe, Jorene and Sue were there in heaven to meet him with open arms.

I worked with Wiley at the Town House Motel. He was a friend for over 15 years. He will be remembered. The family will be remembered in our prayers.

One of my fondest memories of times spent with Wiley was when Hank Thompson performed at Martinez Dance Hall. It was my birthday and my boyfriend and my Mom and I went to see the show. Wiley surprised me with a birthday cake - and what a surprise it was! He said he was running late and stopped by HEB to pick up a cake and all they had left was one that said "We love our Spurs." Wiley had them scrape off "Spurs" and put my name on it. He was, without question, one of the sweetest people I've ever known. All the good things he did for country music and the support he gave to musicians won't soon be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go out to Norma and all the family. We will miss you, Wiley.

I worked with Wiley for many years at the E-N, I loved him like a brother, we had many laughs together It's such a sorrow to 
hear of his passing but I know that now he is smiling in the arms of the lord. 
Something to share with his friends and family: 
He once told me that one of his first jobs was at White's Auto selling furniture and that every time someone came in to buy a quart of oil he would try to sell them a sofa. 
That's the kind of sense of humor he had 
and he will be missed.

It was so sad to read about Wiley's passing. Texas music has lost another giant. Wiley cared so much about the musicians and music businesses who make country music the force it is in the Lone Star State. My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and to the thousands of country music musicians and fans whom he supported and loved.

Although years have passed since we were kids, if someone were to ask me now about favorite childhood memories, hanging out with Kristy and joking and laughing with Mr. Alexander would make my top ten list. He was truly the picture of what a kind, nurturing and generous person should look like. In a lifetime, one can consider themselves lucky to have known a man like him.

We are so sorry to hear about Wiley. We have been good friends for many years and Wiley has done so much for Country Music. We have had a lot of good times with all the country music artist. As i worked with RCA all those year's I got so much help and advice from Wiley. I still have a lot of his country music column's hanging in my office now. I will sure miss the phone calls when Wiley would call and say this is George Jones or some other country artist and we would have a great phone visit. I know Wiley loved his family very much as we talked about our kids and grandkids a lot and i have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of them. I have many fond memories of Wiley Alexander through my uncle, Biff Collie. 
I even had the opportunity of meeting Wiley when they were trying to bring a type of Grand Ole Opry at the Witte Museum.

I worked with Wiley in the late 1970s in the Express-News sports department. It could be a hard place to be on a busy sports day -- tough deadlines, phones ringing like crazy and hundreds of stories rolling across the sports wires that had to be in tomorrow's newspaper. But all I remember -- here years later -- is the camaraderie and the fun we had. And no one kept us more at ease and laughing than Wiley Alexander. Occasionally someone would shout above the din: "Wiley, Ernest Tubb is on the phone," or it might be Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash, but we were all impressed. 
I hope to relive those fun times with Wiley when, and IF, I ever get "up" where he's heading right now. Surely, Heaven will be an even better place because of him. Adios, old pal.

May I extend my sincerest condolences to Wiley Alexander's wife Norma and the rest of his family. Wiley was a dear friend and Christian Texas Gentlemen in the truest sense of the word. He had the rare gift of a Servant's Heart. In over 30-years of knowing him and working with him at times on gigs, I've never knew him to say a negative word about anyone. You always felt like he was glad to see you. He would help with a benefit at the drop of a hat. The list of local and national artist he graciously helped, without fanfare, is a who's who of Country Music. As I write this I can hear that wonderful laugh of his. Wiley, as well as all his family, has always had a special place in my family's hearts. Though we didn't see him very often, each time we did run-in to him it was a true pleasure. Wiley always had a huge smile and a good handshake for everyone he met and he truly never met a stranger. I remember Wiley always told the best stories about his many interesting moments with the celebrities he would be interviewing. Some of them still make me laugh. My family, Estella, Janina, Marsha and myself, were very sad to here of Wiley's passing and we send our deepest sympathy and prayers to all of his family. May God bless and comfort you all.
