Floyd Allen Box, Jr. passed away on April 15, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was born on October 3, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Floyd Allen Box, Sr. and Willie Coker Box.
Floyd spent his early years playing Little League baseball and performing in his high school band as a trombonist. After graduating from Provine High School, he attended Hinds Community College and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served with the Air Force Security Service in Okinawa and South Korea.
Following his honorable discharge, Floyd married the love of his life, Rubye, on August 30, 1963. The couple moved to Dallas, Texas, where Floyd pursued further education in computer technology. Upon returning to Jackson, he began his career at Allstate Insurance Company in their data processing department, eventually rising to the position of department manager.
In 1974, Floyd was transferred with Allstate to Texas, living in Houston, Irving, and finally El Paso. He later transitioned to working as an insurance agent, serving clients in San Antonio and eventually opening his own agency in Tomball, Texas.
Floyd loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived a life rooted in faith, devotion, and service. He cherished his family deeply, found peace in fishing, and took great joy in singing—especially as a member of the gospel quartet Faithful, with whom he sang for many years.
Upon retirement, Floyd and Rubye embraced a life of adventure, selling their home, buying a motorhome, and traveling across the country for four years before settling in San Antonio.
Floyd is survived by his devoted wife of over 61 years, Rubye; his three children, Sherri Connor (Rodney), Karen Field, and Brian Box (Trisha); ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Box (Lacy), along with extended family and many dear friends.
Floyd will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love of family, his warm spirit, and the joy he found in fishing, singing, and serving others.
