Frances Morales Fernandez was called home to be with the Lord and reunited with her beloved husband of 38 years on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
Frances will be remembered for her kind spirit, her humility and devotion to her family. Her wisdom was born from a deep Catholic faith, her close relationship with the Lord, and a deep introspective and reflective life.
Because of her strong faith and sound principles, many family and friends often sought her counsel which she shared selflessly whenever called upon. She loved the Prayer of St. Francis, which she exemplified every day of her life.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Frances was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 2, 1930. She was very active in her youth and excelled at volleyball and softball as well as her studies in English and Office Administration.
She graduated from Fox Tech High School and began a long career in Office Administration. In the 1950's she met the love of her life, Ray J. Fernandez, Sr. They married in 1957 and were later blessed with three children. In keeping with her top two priorities in life, faith and family, she spent her working years at St. James Catholic School and St. Mary's University in the Alumni offices.
Along with her husband, she was a devoted parishioner of St. James Catholic Church for over 50 years. She spent much of her free time volunteering at both St. James Church and school with their countless festivals, sporting events and other activities.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel Morales and Carlota Neri Morales, her husband, Ray J. Fernandez, Sr., as well at four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her three children: Patricia F. Hernandez and husband Richard, Ray J. Fernandez, Jr. and wife Jina, and Michael A. Fernandez. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Rick Hernandez, Mark Hernandez and wife Cindy, and Lauren Hernandez and one great grandson, Jacob Hernandez. She is also survived by her sister, Susie M. Calderon and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION WILL BE ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2014 FROM 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. AT PORTER LORING ON MCCULLOUGH, WITH A ROSARY AT 7:00 P.M.
A PROCESSION MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2014 AT 11:30 A.M. FROM PORTER LORING, WITH A MASS AT 12:00 NOON AT ST. JAMES THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 907 W. THEO AVE.
INTERMENT IN SAN FERNANDO CEMETERY II.
