

He was born on October 2, 1916 and passed away just before his 94th birthday.
He his preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Edmond Fleming and Theresa Fleming McCue; his stepfather, Charles McCue; and his sister, Bernice Shinn; step-brother, Charles McCue; son-in-law, James Foster
When his mother remarried, he moved from home and lived with relatives all the while working to help support his mother and siblings.
During the 1930's he became a union painter until 1941. Then Francis entered the Army Air Corps on September 7, 1942 and became a Staff Sergeant. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp and then employed at Kelly AFB for 27 years. He developed a strong work ethic during this time.
Francis married the love of his life, Lucille Segel on October 27, 1942. They moved to Dodge City, Kansas. While in Kansas, Francis worked as an aircraft mechanic.
He was transferred to Randolph Field, Texas with an honorable discharge in 1945. Francis entered federal civil service and was employed at Kelly AFB from July 12, 1945 through November 5, 1972. While at Kelly, Francis was a supervisor with 100+ employees working on B-52 and C-5 Galaxy aircraft hydraulics and landing gear.
During the 38 years of his retirement from civil service, Francis became an entrepreneur. He raised cattle, sold wood stoves, chain saws, made small engine repairs, and managed numerous rental properties. He was one of the founders of the Medina Lake Protection Association, worked with Mico Volunteer Fire Dept., by providing assistance during their infancy with the maintenance on the fire trucks and he provided a water draft from the ranch for use in fire fighting. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the St. Francis Chapel of Mico, TX.
Francis is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille Segel Fleming; four children, sons and their wives, Patrick and Sandra Fleming, Michael and Julie Fleming; daughters and their husbands, Jean Foster, Terry and Curtis Saathoff all of San Antonio; eight grandchildren, Michelle Bradshaw, Timothy and Kevin Fleming, Heather Ford, Jennifer Towne, Michael T. Fleming, Wade Foster, and Dr. Kylie Saathoff, D.D.S.; and five great grandchildren, Parker Bradshaw, Ella and Teya Fleming, Shane Towne, and Ashton Foster; his brothers, Edmond Fleming and Ted Fleming; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday September 10, 2010 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
