It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Francisca “Kika” Toms, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world early Thursday morning, August 8, 2024. Kika’s presence will be dearly missed, but the love and warmth she brought into our lives will remain with us forever.
Kika was born in Colón, Panama, to the late Servio Tulio Pedroso and the late Maria Pedroso. She was the beloved sister of the late Gilma, Giralda, Elena, and Leo. From an early age, Kika’s vibrant personality and creativity shone brightly, especially through her love for fashion and interior design. Her taste and eye for detail brought elegance and beauty to every aspect of her life.
She was the devoted wife of Phillip Toms, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership beginning when they met in Panama. Together, they raised two sons, Roderick (Roddy) Toms and Phillip (PJ) Toms Jr., who were the light of her life. Kika adored her granddaughter, Indiana Toms, and treasured their moments together on Saturdays at Barnes & Noble. She loved her sisters’ children and grandchildren, Raul Fung, Josecito Santiago, Lorenzo Santiago, and Rocket Santiago, and filled her home and phone with their photos.
One of Kika’s most remarkable qualities was her selflessness. She dedicated her life to working hard, always putting her family before herself. Kika made countless sacrifices to ensure her sons had the best opportunities in life, never hesitating to place their needs above hers. Her unwavering commitment to her family and her desire to see them thrive was the driving force in her life.
A faithful member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Kika’s commitment to her faith was unwavering. Every Sunday morning, she could be found at Mass, where she found solace, strength, and community. Her devotion to her spiritual life was an example to all who knew her, reflecting her deep love for God and her church.
Kika found immense joy in the simple things, such as spending time with her family, nurturing her beloved plants, and creating a warm and inviting home. Her home was always filled with lush greenery, each plant a testament to the care and love she extended to everything in her life.
Kika’s legacy of love, grace, and beauty will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.
