Francisco Victor Gutierrez

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Guadalupe Gutierrez, and brothers, Merced and David Gutierrez. Survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Carmen Albarran; children Yvonne, Yvette, Denise Martinez (Robert), Frank Gutierrez (Cayetano Espinoza); granddaughters, Maranda Martinez (Joseph), Alyssa Gonzalez (Guillermo), Alannis Martinez; great grandchildren, Larry, Elise, Zachary, and Caliyah; siblings Joe Gutierrez (Yolanda), Clara Sauceda, Fermin Gutierrez (Esther), and Raymond Gutierrez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Vic was an active member of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church Men’s Club and a member of the school board committee that worked to re-open the St. John Berchmans Catholic School. He was also an esteemed member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Guadalupano society at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. His dedications to these organizations reflected a commitment to service, camaraderie, and faith.

Vic was a passionate Tejano and Doo-Wop singer, leaving behind a musical legacy that resonates with the hearts of those who enjoyed the richness of his voice. His love for music was a source of joy and inspiration, and his melodies will continue to echo in the memories of those who were touched by his talent and passion.

In the 1960s Vic joined The Sequence vocal group, leaving an enduring mark with numerous hit singles (Nite Owl, My, My, My, and Most of All) that continue to be played today.

In 2023, Vic received a well-deserved honor as he was inducted into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame. This recognition was a tribute to his significant contributions to Tejano music through his bands, Vic Love and the Lovells, and Vic Love Band. His influence and dedication to the genre will be remembered and celebrated as part of Tejano music history.

May his soul be greeted by eternal harmony in the embrace of heavenly melodies.

Vic’s legacy will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May his soul find eternal rest in the embrace of the Lord.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary West. Mass will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
