Frank B. Bender, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 16, 2013 at the age of 92. Frank and his family moved to San Antonio in 1965 from Pennsylvania and became Texans. He was a member of the Astros Square Dance Club, enjoyed golfing and taking cruises. Frank was a WWII veteran having served in the US Navy. He retired from civil service at Kelly AFB in 1974.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce. He is survived by his daughter Gail Thompson and her husband Barry of Burke, VA; son, Bruce and wife Mary of Laredo, TX; grandchildren, Jeremy and Ryan Bender; great granddaughter Skylar Bender; and brother Frederick (Ted) Bender.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with services at 11:30 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lion’s Club hearing program in memorium to Frank Bender.
