Frank Barry Lewis

February 11, 1950 – December 2, 2020

Dr Frank Barry Lewis, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in San Antonio, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 11, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to Jean McClendon and Frank Barry Lewis.

Frank graduated from the University of Texas in Austin Texas, class of 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree. While in Austin, he became a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Frank went on to attend the University of Texas Dental School at UT Health Science Center Houston where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He continued his post-doctoral studies and attained both the Fellow (FAGD) and Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD).

Frank was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dr Miles Leslie Lewis, grandmother Margaret Barry Lewis, grandfather Brodie Jackson McClendon, and grandmother Vallee O’Conner McClendon, father, Frank Barry Lewis Sr, and mother, Jean McClendon Lewis. Frank is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha Lewis; sons, Frank Barry Lewis III and Michael Jacob Lewis, granddaughter, Vada Marie Lewis and grandsons Frank Barry Lewis IV and Elijah James Lewis, and Elijah's mother Ruby Ann Fernandez.

Frank was so very blessed for the love and friendship of his staff member Jazmyn Lopez and his former daughter-in-law Mariana Lewis. On their own volition, these two ladies contributed countless hours of nursing and support during Frank’s hospice care at home. The Lewis family wishes to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks for their tender loving care of Frank.
