Frank William Novak

Frank William Novak, age 66, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 in Universal City, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Connie (Considine) Mueller Novak; daughter, Jessica Lynn; sons, Frank Scott and wife Kara, and Joshua Aaron and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Frank Estin Novak and Wyatt Preston Novak; brother, William R. Novak and wife Stephanie, and a close extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Novak and Katherine S. Novak, and by his niece Kaitlyn Marie Novak.

In addition to instilling a love of the outdoors in his family, Frank was active in Boy Scouts for 24 years including 11 years as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 131 (First United Methodist Church, McHenry), guiding boys to become outstanding young men, many of whom achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Additionally, he volunteered as the Junior Leader Training Scoutmaster for Blackhawk Area Council. Well known to the boating community of Lake and McHenry Counties in Illinois, he was Lockmaster of the William G. Stratton Lock & Dam, McHenry, IL, from 1974 until his retirement in 2004. Upon retiring, he moved to Texas where he continued in Scouting as a Den Leader for his grandson's Cub Scout Pack. He became a Texas Master Naturalist and continued his work with youth introducing them to the world of nature as docent for the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center.
