Fred Barrera, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Petra Barrera and brother, Manuel Barrera. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Gloria Esquivel Barrera and son, Fred Barrera III.

Fred graduated from Lanier High School and advanced to St. Mary’s University earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration. He held various roles in human resources and management both locally and nationally. He also taught many years for Webster University. Fred retired from Northside ISD in 2010.

Fred served the community on the Goodwill Industries Board, and the United Way.He was also active in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Guadalupanos.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
