He is survived by his two sons, Scott Oliver (Tonya) of San Antonio Tx., and Steve Oliver (Tina) of Tomball, Tx. Fred was a cherished grandfather to Chase Oliver (Stephanie) and Logan Oliver and a proud great-grandfather to little Heidi Oliver. He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law, Jan Hill (Don), and is remembered fondly by numerous family members and friends.
Fred grew up in Lonoke and graduated high school at Little Rock Central High. He also attended the University of Arkansas where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in 1956. About that same time, he found the love of his life with Doris and they married in 1957 in Floyd, Ar. He served as an active member of the Air National Guard of Arkansas in the late 1950’s before starting work in retail sales. His career with Montogomery Ward would eventually take him to Waco, Tx. where he served as store manager. He loved taking family summer vacations to Colorado where he and his sons would trout fish, raft the rivers and occasionally hike in the nearby mountains. Fred liked nature and was always happy when he was outdoors. He retired with Doris in 1989 and returned to the family farm in Floyd. His golden years were filled with raising cows, fishing, caring for his dogs, watching the wildlife on the ponds and spending time with family and friends. Together, they helped start the First Baptist Church of Floyd and gave tirelessly to bring the community closer to Christ. Fred and Doris were happily married for 58 years and are now rejoined together in Heaven. Fred's life was marked by his dedication to his family, and the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved his sons and grandchildren very much. His jovial personality and care for others will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family is at peace knowing that he is now in the arms of the Heavenly Father.
