

Born to Eternal Life on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023, at the age of 86 years in San Antonio, Texas. Frederick was preceded in death by his father, Frederick III and Mother, Ruth (Braymer) Gorham, Brother Peter Gorham, Sister-in-law Georgia Gorham and first wife Betty Wolf.
Frederick was born on December 11, 1936, in Dallas Texas. He is survived by his wife Priscilla of 51 years, Daughter Melissa Gorham Morris (Rick), Teresa Gorham, Brothers Richard, and Michael (Mary) Gorham.
Frederick graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Dayton, Ohio in 1959. He was a distinguished Military Graduate and his Army career spanned 24 years of service to our country.
He received his Masters of Science, Professional Management degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1978.
Frederick’s passion for photography and genealogy left a legacy rich with our family history, photos, and many more memories that will last a lifetime. We will always remember him with love and gratitude that we were all a part of his life.
Fred entered the U S Army as a second lieutenant, United States Army Reserve on July 5, 1959, and was integrated into the Regular Army in August 1959. He completed Field Artillery Officer Basic at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in October 1959 and assigned to the United States Army Europe. He served with the 8th Infantry Division Artillery until transferring to the Ordnance Corps after two years. He was then promoted to first lieutenant. He left Europe in 1963 and was assigned to the Ordnance Officer Advanced Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and was promoted to captain. He completed the advanced course in December 1963 and was assigned to graduate school at Arizona State University. He then left graduate school in June 1964 and was assigned to the 574th Ordnance Company, Fort Knox, Kentucky, as the commanding officer. He left command in July 1965 and was assigned to the United States Military Assistance Command Vietnam. He served as an advisor to the south Vietnamese army until July 1966.
He was then assigned to the Ordnance Center and School in August 1966 as the commander of an officer candidate company and was then promoted to major. He left command and was assigned as an instructor until February 1967. He was then transferred to the United States Military Assistance Command Thailand in March 1968 in Bangkok, Thailand, serving as an advisor to the Royal Thai Army for Vietnam and then the Ordnance Base Depot. He left Thailand in June 1970 and was assigned to Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
He left there in March 1973 and was assigned to the US Eighth Army in Yongsan, South Korea as executive officer of the 227th Maintenance Battalion. He moved from South Korea in June 1974 to Headquarters, US Army Armament Command at Rock Island, Illinois in the Material Management Directorate, being promoted to lieutenant colonel. He was then transferred to Headquarters, 21st Support Command in July 1977 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, serving as a division chief and then Deputy, Assistant Chief of Staff, Logistics.
His final assignment in July 1980 was to the US Army Field Artillery Test Board at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as Chief, RAM Test Division. He retired at Fort Sam Houston, TX on 31 January 1983 (his last day of duty), retiring as an O-5 (Lieutenant Colonel) receiving an honorable discharge.
