

Gary Duane DeVoss, 75, of San Antonio, Texas, entered eternal rest on February 28, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished brother, uncle, and friend, Gary will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and distinctive sense of humor. His steady presence and the quiet wit he shared with those closest to him will be deeply missed.
Gary was born on August 4, 1950, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to Freddie and Lois (Hansohn) DeVoss. He grew up in Dodgeville and graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1968.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years, fulfilling multiple roles during his distinguished military career. While stationed in the Philippines, he met the love of his life, Concordia “Cora” Bunao. They married in 1974 and built a life together filled with devotion and partnership. They later made their home in San Antonio, Texas, where they raised their two children.
Gary had a deep love of reading and was a frequent visitor at the local library, often keeping them busy with his steady stack of books. He especially enjoyed mysteries and science fiction, and one of his favorite authors was Kathy Reichs. When he wasn’t reading, Gary enjoyed puzzles, arts and crafts, and road trips.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Concordia “Cora” DeVoss; his children, Freddie DeVoss of Austin, Texas, and Steven Mondragon-DeVoss (Monica “Monie”) of San Antonio, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Zander.
He is also survived by his siblings: Orville DeVoss (Carol) of Linden, Wisconsin; Thomas DeVoss (Kathy) of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; Catherine DeVoss of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; and Kay Colbert of Iowa, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Lois DeVoss, and his siblings Larry DeVoss, Sharon Morrison, Dave DeVoss, and Dick DeVoss.
A Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, on March 24, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am.
A Chapel Service will follow at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, on March 24, 2026, at 10:00 am with Pastor Jon Pyle officiating.
A Committal Service will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, on March 24, 2026, at 11:30 am with military honors.
A Reception is to follow the services from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at City Church Bandera Road, 9431 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78250.
