

MSGT Gary Allen Rogers (retired U.S. Air Force), age 64, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Newton, NJ to Gilbert Earl Rogers II and Janet Smith Colborn Rogers on November 26, 1951.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
Gary was a very humble, kind and private person. Following High School Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force where he attended NCO Leadership School and received the 2nd highest Security Clearance granted at that time. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award, AF Achievement Medal, as well as other recognitions. Following his continuous Honorable Active Military Service in the Air Force, Gary continued to serve as a civilian in the Army, ultimately receiving two military pensions.
Gary was married for over 30 years to his loving and devoted wife Mediatrix, his "Princess", who was there to hold him when he took his last breath before going home. The apple of his eye was his beautiful daughter Maria or as he liked to call her, "Megold". Gary always had that wonderful Rogers sense of humor and was still making those around him smile and laugh even during his brief stay in the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
Gary was preceded in death by his Father, Gilbert Earl Rogers II, his Mother Janet Colborn Rogers, Brother Randy Lee Rogers and Brother Gilbert Earl Rogers III.
He is survived by his wife, Mediatrix Rogers; daughter, Maria Rogers; step-daughters, Mahra McDaniels and husband David, Maan Dizon and husband Nowell, Sisters, Judy M. Rogers and Kathy Rogers Jenks and husband Gary; grandchildren, Amanda McDaniels, Braiden McDaniels, Jonathan and Precious Punzalan; sister-in-law, Elizabeth McGee and husband Michael; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at St. John Newmann Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway, San Antonio, Texas 78239.
Internment will follow at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 'Wounded Warriors Project".
