Gary,   I talked to you for the last time, our friendship was an amazing journey filled with so much love! you helped me in ways I could not describe, I just hope I helped you at least half of what you helped me. in retrospective, even with the difference in our ages, you were the only friend I could really tell everything! I still remember our phone calls when filled with sadness and desperation I told you I didn’t understand why things were happening to me. You were always there to take may call and give me words of hope. You never judged me. Then things changed and as you always told me, things got better! I know the last year or year and a half were tough for you. I really tried to stay in touch with you, but I needed to give you space, I didn’t want you to be overwhelmed with all my calls! I knew that even though sometimes my calls will distract you, sometimes they did the opposite! On our last call you read to me the beautiful speech Stephanie wrote for Linda, you struggled so much, I could hear the pain in your voice, the sadness that not having the love of your life physically with you was causing you. But we talked about your plans, and I believed you, I really did, I thought it was a great plan to sell your house and then move to a place where you can interact with others! I thought it was brilliant! I'm going to be honest! I also thought you will probably be a little too much for some of the residents but what the hell! I was sure you were going to find it fun, and it will keep you busy. Yesterday I found out you followed Linda and my heart dropped! I could not believe it! it was like a bucket of iced water was dropped on me! you will always live in my heart and our memories together will always be some of the best memories of my life! I love you man! I love you so much! I'm sorry I wasn't by your side.  Emilio Gamboa

To the lovely daughters (& family) of Gary and Linda West....your mom and your dad were two of the most wonderful people I have known.  Their love and devotion to one another is exemplary and an inspiration to all of  us who knew them. Gary was one of the first people I met when my family was switched to Donna ISD when I was in the 4th grade and we remained friends through HS.  Gary and Linda continued to be friends throughout college, and my boyfriend and I often planned weekends with them.  Linda & I also worked together at PSJA ISD while we were going to college.  Good people and I am so saddened that we did not re-connect face to face with them!!!  I am praying that each of you are at peace with the loss of them both.  They are whole now...no more pain, no more nights.  With sincerest sympathy....you remain in my prayers and in my heart!
