

Gayolla Florence Shaw Knowlton passed gently away Sunday, September 2, 2001, in Temple, Texas. Gay was predeceased by her adoring husband, Harold, in 1974, and by her elder daughter, Janice Knowlton Jackson on July 28, 2001. She moved to Temple from San Antonio only one month ago. Mrs. Knowlton was born on July 31, 1907 to George Savannah Shaw and Mabel Lillian Walters Shaw in the rural town of Wesley, PA. She was the sixth of eight children, and was the last surviving child of the family. She attended the University of Tulsa and worked for The Carter Oil Company in Tulsa prior to her marriage. The Knowltons were members of Alamo Heights Methodist Church for over fifty years. Mrs. Knowlton was a member of the Delphian Study Club for many years, the Past Presidents Club, the Woman's Club and was a Grey Lady at Brooke General Hospital and a Blue Bird Volunteer at Methodist Hospital since it's opening. She was a member of the Council of Presidents, a Charter Member of Canyon Creek Country Club and a member of the Super Adults at Laurel Heights Methodist Church. Mrs. Knowlton is survived by her son, Ronald Shaw Knowlton of San Antonio; her daughter, Sharon Knowlton Myers of Temple; and six grandchildren, Bob Anderlitch of Keller, Christine Lambden of Austin, Kathleen Edwards of Austin, Jeff Jackson of Bandera, Mark Jackson of San Antonio and Keith Knowlton of Conroe; and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephe
