Dearest Aunt Gena,

Not a day goes by that your memory does not visit.  Your passing, as well as those of my other aunts, has left a huge hole in my heart.  As my own mortality approaches, I know that we will all be together again drinking coffee and eating pan dulce while talking about grandpa and grandma only they will also be there.  I know this because you all gave me the gift of spirituality that was so lacking in my life.  Till we all meet again you are warmly in my thoughts.

I had the blessed opportunity of knowing Mrs. Cox through my grandmother, Norma Wilson.  You all are a reflection of your mother in the way you love and embrace the treasured, life-long friendship between Mrs. Cox and Nanny.  I am so sorry for your loss, I know heaven just received one of its most special angels.

Dear Cousins, -- I'll always remember Aunt Gena as a beautiful person, down to earth, a caring and loving person with a sensitive side to her.

Dear cousins, one and all, 

Words cannot express our deeper feelings but I know that we all share a sense of profound loss at the passing of so many of our dear aunts in so short a time.  I had hoped to share a lot more good times with her.  Sitting with her and Aunt Emma watching Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, Gunsmoke and others that one would probably not watch on their own but seemed perfectly natural and enjoyable while in their company.  In those old TV shows the values of honesty, hard work, respect for others, and doing the right thing in good and bad situations mirrored their values.  This is about my dear Aunt Gena but It is hard to separate the two aunts as they were so very close.  I believe that she really couldn't face the prospect of life without her.  Aunt Gena, the phrase "The Greatest Generation"  is personified in you.  In my travels and in my career there have been many great and memorable people but none any finer or stronger than you.  Your home spun wisdom greatly influenced me and countless others.  You have been so very kind to Margie from the beginning when she was making such a great transition.  Thank you so very much for the former and later.  You are and will be missed by many.

Reading this tribute I am reminded of how much our family has lost in the last four months and I can still hardly believe it. The loss of so many of the women who raised us in so short a time is so painful, so difficult. I try to take comfort from the certain knowledge that the Luderus sisters are together and, because of the strength they taught us, we will honor their lives with ours.

I'll miss Aunt Gena. She was at all the significant events in our lives, weddings and baby showers....we could count on her and Aunt Emma to show up and always have something witty to say. May she now rest in peace with her beautiful sisters.  ~Aimee

Our dear Aunt Gena was the youngest of the clan and was forced to put up with all us grandkids, but she smiled, put up with us and gave us rides on the scooter. She will be remembered with love and affection. My dear cousins, I am so sorry that your beloved mother has left you. She is not feeling anymore pain and will be waiting to see us all again someday.
