Genoveva Conaway

Genoveva Conaway (Galindo-Hernandez), beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, passed from this life on December 16, 2022. She leaves behind William (Bill), her beloved husband of 25 years. Genoveva was the love of her husband’s Life and it was truly Love at First Sight when he first met her. She was born in Mapastepec Chiapas, Mexico on January 2, 1973 to Rafael Galindo Sanchez and Zenaida Hernandez Irecta.

She is also survived by her five Sons: Sergio Galindo Hernandez, Jovany (Yasmin White), William, Danny, and Jacob - all of San Antonio; as well as grandchildren Nova, Amias, Miles, and Jimmy. She is also survived by her mother Zenaida, as well as 3 brothers Oscar, Miguel and Manolo, three sisters Candalaria, Pakita, Conchi, and many nephews and nieces all residing in the Cities of Comitan and Mapastepec, Chiapas Mexico.

Geno loved an adventure or at least tolerated the many times her husband, Bill, would take her on his infamous weekend drives without ever sharing their ultimate destination. She enjoyed the time spent with the family during these shorter trips, as well as, other more planned out get aways and vacations but was never a real big fan of her Husband’s driving per say. These spontaneous road trips and other adventures created many wonderful memories for her and the family as a whole.

Geno was a talented chef who had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes. She was known for making some of the best Tacos, flautas, Birria, Tomales, Chile Rellenos, and a hundred other of her beloved traditional Mexican foods to include some of the best salsas seen this side of the Border. She especially loved cooking for and spending time with her family who she adored and cherished more than anything in the World. Geno had a passion for life and celebrated the successes of those she loved and gave encouragement to all who needed it.

She always tried to lead by example but also understood that no one is perfect and that we all learn from our mistakes while always trying to improve and be a better person than you were the day before. Geno knew that you always had a choice every morning that you awoke as to whether you were going to make this a good day or not, and she always opted to make it the best day she knew how and this was reflected in all aspects of her life. Genoveva’s good nature and loving spirit was contagious. She was a stranger to no one and wholeheartedly embraced her friends leaving an impact in the lives of all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.

Genoveva had worked for the Northside Independent School District for many years while also being employed in some of the Best Mexican Food Restaurants in San Antonio and was most recently employed by Circle K off of 471 N where she was in Charge of running their Food Service Operation. This job by far was one her most challenging but had given her much satisfaction in the way she had developed quite an impressive clientele base where she was well known and loved for the special attention she would give to each and every one of her customers. She knew their likes and their dislikes and tried to cater to all of their needs which endeared her to many, with all of them willing to brave the long lines just to have an opportunity to have “Doña Geno” take care of them. Her manner of Customer Service was second to none and that was clear for all to see. She just had a natural ability to put everyone at ease so she was beloved by both customers and co-workers alike with all having expressed their fondest memories of her. She touched the lives of so many people throughout her life. She will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten having been taken from us all too soon.

A celebration of Genoveva’s life is planned for Saturday January 7th, 2022. She would love to be remembered with funny, strange, or silly stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life. Genoveva’s love will lives on through her Husband, children and grandchildren who were all the lights of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the San Antonio Humane Society as she was an animal lover who rescued dogs, cats, and even a chicken!

Genoveva Conaway (Galindo-Hernández), amada esposa, madre y abuela, falleció de esta vida el 16 de diciembre de 2022. Ella deja atrás a William (Bill), su amado esposo de 25 años. Ella fue La Amor de la Vida de su Esposo. A El conociendo a ella fue Amor de la primera vista y despues de conociendo ellos dos fueron inseperables. Genoveva nació en Mapastepec Chiapas, México el 2 de enero de 1973, hijo de Rafael Galindo Sánchez y Zenaida Hernández Irecta.

Le sobreviven sus cinco Hijos: Sergio Galindo Hernández, Jovany (Yasmin White), William, Danny y Jacob - todos de San Antonio; así como los nietos Nova, Amias, Miles y Jimmy. También le sobreviven su madre Zenaida, así como 3 hermanos Oscar, Miguel y Manolo, tres hermanas Candalaria, Pakita, Conchi y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas que residen en las ciudades de Comitan y Mapastepec, Chiapas México.

Geno amaba una aventura o al menos toleraba las muchas veces que su marido, Bill, la llevaba en sus infames viajes de fin de semana sin compartir su destino final. Ella disfrutó del tiempo pasado con la familia durante estos viajes más cortos, así como, otros más planeados fuera de las vacaciones y, pero nunca fue un gran fan de la conducción de su marido por decir. Estos viajes por carretera espontáneos y otras aventuras crearon muchos recuerdos maravillosos para ella y la familia en su conjunto.

Geno era un chef talentoso que tenía una pasión por la cocina y probar nuevas recetas. Ella era conocida por hacer algunos de los mejores Tacos, flautas, Birria, Tomales, Chile Rellenos, y un centenar más de sus comidas tradicionales mexicanas para incluir algunas de las mejores salsas visto este lado de la frontera. Le encantaba especialmente cocinar y pasar tiempo con su familia a quien adoraba y apreciaba más que a nada en el mundo. Geno tenía una pasión por la vida y celebraba los éxitos de los que amaba y daba aliento a todos los que lo necesitaban.

Ella siempre trató de predicar con el ejemplo, pero también entendió que nadie es perfecto y que todos aprendemos de nuestros errores mientras siempre tratamos de mejorar y ser una persona mejor que tú el día anterior. Geno sabía que siempre tenías una opción cada mañana que te despertabas en cuanto a si ibas a hacer de este un buen día o no, y ella siempre optó por hacerlo el mejor día que sabía cómo y esto se reflejaba en todos los aspectos de su vida. La buena naturaleza de Genoveva y su espíritu amoroso eran contagiosos. Ella era una extraña para nadie y abrazó de todo corazón a sus amigos dejando un impacto en las vidas de todos los que tuvieron el placer de cruzar su camino.

Genoveva había trabajado para el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Northside durante muchos años mientras también estaba empleada en algunos de los Mejores Restaurantes de Comida Mexicana en San Antonio y más recientemente fue empleada por Circle K off de 471 N donde estaba a cargo de dirigir su Servicio de Alimentos Operación. Este trabajo era de lejos uno de sus más desafiantes, pero le había dado mucha satisfacción en la forma en que había desarrollado una base de clientela impresionante donde era bien conocida y amada por la atención especial que daría a todos y cada uno de sus clientes. Ella conocía sus gustos y sus aversiones y trató de satisfacer todas sus necesidades, lo que la atraía a muchos, con todos ellos dispuestos a desafiar las largas filas solo para tener la oportunidad de tener "Doña Geno" cuidar de ellos. Su forma de servicio al cliente era insuperable y eso estaba claro para todos. Ella solo tenía una habilidad natural para poner a todos a gusto, por lo que era amada tanto por los clientes como por los compañeros de trabajo, con todos los que habían expresado sus mejores recuerdos de ella. Ella tocó las vidas de tantas personas a lo largo de su vida. Ella será verdaderamente extrañada y nunca, jamás, será olvidada después de haber sido tomada de nosotros demasiado pronto.

Una celebración de la vida de Genoveva está prevista para el sábado 7 de enero de 2022. Le encantaría ser recordada con historias divertidas, extrañas o tontas que celebren lo que fue bueno y bendecido en su vida. El amor de Genoveva vivirá a través de su marido, sus hijos y nietos, que fueron todas las luces de su vida.
