He was Texas Military Institute's class of 1949 valedictorian. George also attended Princeton University and the University of Texas School of Law, from which he graduated in 1957. George practiced law in San Antonio for many years.
George's favorite pastimes were golfing at the San Antonio Country Club, hunting and fishing in South Texas and reading in his library.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Burdin Clifton of San Antonio and his sister, Helen Clifton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, grandchildren, Cameron, Mercer and Isabel of Dallas; son, Jamie, daughter-in-law, Anna and grandchildren, Alexander Clifton and Natalie of New York City.
