

He grew up in Harlandale, graduating from Harlandale High School in 1951, and he remained close to the Harlandale community all of his life.
He attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas on a full basketball scholarship. During his college years he was a counselor and Aquatic Director at Camps Ridgecrest and Rockmont in North Carolina.
After graduating from college in 1956, he coached basketball and football at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio for 10 years where as head basketball coach he had many outstanding teams. He enjoyed working with and encouraging young people, helping many to obtain college scholarships.
After leaving coaching he had a long and successful career in sales, working for Southern Pabst Engraving Company in San Antonio, the Xerox Corporation, Federal Envelope Company and as owner of Ford-Sein Envelope Company.
Six years ago George returned to the field of education serving as Assistant Principal, first at Harlandale Middle School and most recently at the Harlandale Alternative Center.
George was involved in sports for many years, maintaining this interest all of his life. He especially enjoyed the 35 years he spent officiating high school football. He became a member of the Southwest Football Officials Association in 1967 and officiated all classifications of high school football from 1A to 5A throughout South Texas, including many playoff games, the 5A Texas State Championship Game, and South Texas college games. He served as Referee of the San Antonio High School All-Star Game since its inception in 1978. The SFOA recently awarded him an honorary life-time membership. He has continued to work as a timer for football games at Comalander Stadium and the Alamodome. He loved following college basketball and football and was an avid supporter of the University of Texas Longhorns in all sports.
George was active in various civic and professional organizations. He served as president of the San Antonio Quarterback Club, the Golden Mile Optimist Club and the San Antonio Breakfast Club. He was also a member of the Alamo Brittany Club, Alamo Executive Club, William Barrett Travis Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, Envelope Manufacturers Association of America, San Antonio Texas Exes Association, San Antonio Conservation Society and San Antonio Fiesta Commission.
George was a loving and devoted husband and father and he had many friends who loved and admired him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald H. Frost.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Cecie Cunningham Frost, and his daughter, Tara Shipman Frost, and her husband, Alejandro Schwartzman, all of San Antonio. He is also survived by his brother, Charles F. Frost, of Houston and nieces, Elizabeth Frost White and Rachael Frost Larkins, both of Houston.
