I’m very sorry for your loss. George was my supervisor when I was stationed at Lackland AFB in 1985. He was a good man.

George was a friend of mine at Sheppard AFB in 1976. I was an 18 year old white boy from MS. I have searched his name before but never got a hit until today 3-10-21. Uncle George, more than just an uncle in my eyes. What I saw was an intelligent man, good husband, father, military role model, but most importantly to me he was a father figure that I knew I wanted to emulate as I was growing  up. He was always there to give me advice and guidance when I needed it most. My memories of him will always be in my heart.

My condolences to the Merlo Family. It's sad to hear that one of my Fellow Horseman and dear friend has passed away. May the Good Lord give you all strength and support during this trying time. He was and is always the better man than others realized.  What a real honour it was to have been both his employee and supervisor at one time.  He acumen at treating the next person with dignity and respect is a lesson to both the living and passed.  I mourn for his family, and yet there is also joy for knowing that such individuals still exist.  If only others would have the courage to follow George's great lead. this old world would  be better for this.  Take care my friend, for we shall see you again.

George was an exceptional man. Working with him over the past several years he always conducted himself with integrity and dignity. He was honest and a good friend. I will miss him. In this world there are very few people that have crossed our path, that I feeling has made a great difference in our life. George was one of those people he made us laugh with his humor. George was a good friend, a man who everybody fell in love with when they met him and would be around him.
