George was born November 3, 1934, to Emil and Julia Kostelnik Sefcik in the community of Three Oaks, Wilson County, Texas. They soon moved to San Antonio where George attended St. Michaels Elementary. He then graduated in 1953 from Central Catholic High School. He soon married the love of his life, Arlene Mae Mitchie on September 21, 1957.
George worked for a short time with the San Antonio Drug Company. He then spent the rest of his career as a San Antonio police officer. He began his service as a patrol officer in May 1956. He was promoted to Detective Investigator in 1966 to the department of Motor Vehicle Thefts. He retired in 1995 serving San Antonio for 39 years.
George was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church until two years ago when he moved to Weatherford, Texas to live with his granddaughter’s family. He was also an active member in the
CYO Program serving as treasurer and president.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene, and their son, Michael Edward; Four brothers; Richard, Robert, Kenneth, and Emil, Jr.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Taylor Lynn Lance, and husband, Brandon; Great grandchildren, Graylen Edward, and Emmie Louise; Sister in Laws; Rose, Ann, and Helen. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave., on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Rd., on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. Graveside immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
