George Vasquez Jr., loving father of five and beloved husband to Lillian Aparicio Vasquez, was called home to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ the early morning of Friday, March 25, 2022. George Vasquez Jr., is the eldest son of George Vasquez Sr. and Rosalinda (Linda) Hernandez Vasquez, of San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in 1986, and in 1993 graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. George began his career at University Hospital working in the laboratory and spent the last 24 years working for Dow Chemical Company in Seadrift, Texas.
While in college, George was employed at Stein Mart, where he met and married his love, Lillian Aparicio, May 31, 1991. They would grow their family to five children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and seven grandchildren over the course of 31 years.
George had a sparkle in his eye and a laugh that would echo, and bounce off the walls. His laughter held a life of its own. One could not help but feel welcomed in his presence. He was always thoughtful and compassionate in his approach towards others. He was an observer, a listener, a unifier. George embodied a vogue-like gusto with his ability to create beauty for those he loved. This was evidenced by his ability to collect items of beauty purchased at bargains, and his keen ability to transform spaces and events for others. His exquisite home decor and novelties were often the centerpiece of conversations, and a springboard for family and guests to imagine and experience exotic travels to far off places. He made everything an experience. It was also commonplace to find George outside working on the latest home improvement project while sipping his famous ice-cold sweet tea.
George is survived by his wife, Lillian Aparicio Vasquez; children, Lauren Silva (Hermes), Roman Vasquez (Ashley), Alexandra Jacobs (Jordan), Ava Vasquez and Dominic Vasquez; parents, George Vasquez Sr. and Rosalinda Hernandez Vasquez; siblings, Vanessa Vasquez and Steve Vasquez (Diana); grandchildren, Santiago, Ignatius, Eloise, Taylor, Amelia, Blaise, and Stetson, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive guests Sunday, April 10, 2022 for visitation and rosary at Porter Loring North. Mass and burial service is scheduled for Monday, April 11, 2022. See below for times and locations. Pallbearers are Roman Vasquez, Dominic Vasquez, Hermes Silva, Jordan Jacobs, Steve Vasquez and Charles Gatrelle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of the following that were close to George’s heart.
