George H. Vasquez Sr. was called home to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was born in 1946 in San Antonio, TX to Inez and Carlos Vasquez Sr. George was a loving husband and father. He married Rosalinda (Linda) Hernandez on July 1st, 1967 and they had 3 children, George Jr, Vanessa Lynn, and Steve.
His childhood love of building things like “soap box derby” type cars, led him to a career as a sub-contractor in both residential and commercial building. George was a gifted craftsman with a creative mind and an eye for detail. He could envision and take anything ordinary and make it extraordinary. He was as unique as any project he ever worked on.
George was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for boating, deep sea fishing, & hunting. You often found him cooking or grilling for family and friends. Because of his love of cooking, and friends telling him he should open a restaurant, he opened a small neighborhood barbacoa and taco shop when he felt the area had a need for that type of eatery. He also had one of the first mobile food trucks before that was common or popular in San Antonio. Again, a man with vison and creativity.
The joy of his life was his wife and his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosalinda Hernandez Vasquez; son, Steve Vasquez (Diana); daughter, Vanessa Lynn; daughter in law, Lillian Vasquez, Grandchildren: Lauren Vasquez Silva (Hermes), Roman Vasquez (Ashley), Alexandra Vasquez Jacobs (Jordan), Ava Vasquez, Dominic Vasquez, Nicholas Vasquez and Nate Vasquez; great-grandchildren, Santiago, Ignatius, Eloise, Taylor, Amelia, Blaise, Stetson and Charlotte; siblings, Oralia Cosme, Carlos Vasquez, Jr(Delia), David Vasquez, Adolph Vasquez (Mary Esther) Sylvia Vasquez Rincon (Rene); and numerous nieces and nephews.
