

Gerald Cyril DeStefano, age 79, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in San Antonio, TX. He was born to Jerry Ciro & Eloise Marie (Garrison) De Stefano on October 29, 1943 in Lancaster, Ohio. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably on active duty for 4 years. He then continued serving honorably in the Navy Reserves for another 20 years and retired as a Petty Officer First Class in September 2003. After his active duty time in the Navy, he pursued a degree in education and began working in elementary special education. He later advanced to an administrative position for the Duval County School Board and served as an Assistant Principal for Ortega Elementary as well as other schools over the years. His passions were traveling, photography, and a good meal with family and friends. He was a good and loving father and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed. Gerald is survived by his sister, Lt Col (Ret.) Diana De Stefano; his three children, Mrs. Mary Stewart Jackson, LTC Michael DeStefano and Mr. Andrew DeStefano; and his five grandchildren, Anna DeStefano, Elizabeth DeStefano, Michele DeStefano, Mary Frances Blunk, and Ava Jackson; as well as other family members and dear friends.
