Mom's wonderful mortal journey came to an end on May 18, 2018. Mom's story began on May 29 in Salisbury, North Carolina having been born to Benjamin and Ida Mason. Mom married Richard "Dick" Clary in November 1946 in Syracuse, New York. They made Syracuse their home for 25 years before moving to San Antonio, Texas in 1971.
Mom was employed for many years with New York Bell Telephone in the communications department. After her move to San Antonio, Texas she retired from Dillard's 25 years ago in sales.
She loved her bowling league ladies, along with week-end dancing at the Randolph Officers' Club and of course playing bridge with her closest bridge friends. In the early 90's she met the second love of her life, Joe Holstine, who together they enjoyed their camping trips, card playing nights, and their travels to Mexico and Europe with their friends. Mom was a very social person who had a great sense of humor, lived life to the fullest and was such a great listener to all of us. We will miss her dearly.
Jeri is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Meyer and Sue Growcock and son- in-laws, John Meyer and Gerald Growcock, M.D. along with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and her best friend, Lorraine Davis. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and Joe.
A viewing will be held to honor her 90th birthday on Tuesday, May 29th at 6-8pm at Sunset Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 30th, at 9:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 Austin Hwy, with burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family wishes to send a special thanks to Linda, Terry, and Isabelle, staff at Arden Courts of San Antonio and Lupe and Ronda with St. Gabriel's Hospice for their kind and loving care to Mom.
