Geraldine G. Wagner

Geraldine G. Wagner, age 100, died on Saturday, April 26, 2003. Geraldine was born in Oklahoma Territory in 1902 before the state entered the Union in 1907. She grew up in Kingsville, TX and came to San Antonio when she began nurses training. She put her sister Eleanor through nurses training and her sister Peggy through college at A&I. After completing taking care of educating her siblings, she married John James Wagner a career Naval Officer. They settled in San Antonio after WWII. She and a close co-worker helped start the first intensive care unit in San Antonio at what was then the Santa Rosa Hospital. Geraldine was a devout Catholic and a very faithful and active member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. She left San Antonio in 1998 to be cared for by her family in Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, John James Wagner and her sisters, Eleanor Remling and Jewel Reese and granddaughter Sherry Middleton Leighton. Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Dotty Middleton and husband, Don and Rita Sansone and husband Ralph of the Villages, FL; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Bayne of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
