Gerry L. Spears

Gerry Laverne Spears was born February 14, 1927 and passed away April 10, 2011. She was born in Valera, Texas to H. E. and Lela Spears and was preceded in death by her only daughter, Gerry. She worked for 15 years at Paul Anderson Company. Part of this time she was in outside sales of engineering equipment. She was one of the first women in the United States in that field. Following her career in sales, she was an engineering counselor for Snelling Employment Service. After that she opened her own company, Spears Personnel Agency, which she operated for 25 years until she retired in 1995. She was active on the local, state and national boards for teacher placement and personnel services. Gerry served as president of the National Association for Teacher Placement. She also served as president of the local San Antonio Association of Personnel Consultants, and was an officer on the state level of that organization. The family wishes to thank the staff at San Pedro Manor for the many years of loving care given to Gerry. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 12:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
