Gilbert retired from Kelly Air Force Base after 37 years of service. He was an avid hunter, golfer, outdoorsman, and craftsman. His love of the outdoors was surpassed only by his love of friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dorothy; children, Sandra Roman(Frank), Linda Layton(Alan), Elizabeth Perales(Mike), Gilbert Guerra, Jr. and John Guerra; stepchildren, Sharon Zuniga and Tommy Zuniga(Darla); brothers, Robert Guerra, Roy Guerra and Jimmy Guerra; grandchildren, Frank, Jr., Michael, Christine, Roger, Jennifer, Juan Carlos, Paloma, Christian, Julia, Abigail, Jacob, Reanna and Madison; 10 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2011 from 5PM to 9PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10AM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Villa Del Carmen Catholic Cemetery, 18555 Leal Rd.
