'Mr and Mrs Guerrero and Family, 
I was shocked and saddened when I heard about Gilbert's untimely death Friday morning, part of me still can not believe he is gone. Gilbert loved life, he loved Ashley, and he loved his family. I feel fortunate to have known Gilbert and will remember his good heart, but most of all his friendship. Many of of his friends could tell you Gilbert was a true friend and went out of his way to help his friends. Yes, Gilbert was too young to die and he should of had many, many more years of life, but I am happy for the time I had with him. You raised a good man and should be proud of yourselves. I can only hope your years of happiness and your many good memories of Gilbert will be some comfort to your family.

'I just wanted to share a memory that I have of Gilbert from quite a few years ago right after Ashley was born. He was over at Hector's house and our daughter Katarina was about six months old. She was on the sidewalk in her walker and when they walked up to her and she saw Hector her face lit up and she gave him a big smile. Gilbert said, "Man, I can't wait until Ashley is old enough to smile and she smiles at me like that." He said it with such excitement and enthusiasm, that it suprised me, because I had always seen a different side to him than the one he showed that day. You could see all the love he had for his baby girl and it impressed me. It's a comfort to know that he had 11 blessed years with her to see her light up every time she saw him.'

'To his daughter Ashley: Be strong Ashley, keep your daddy's memories alive in your mind and especially in your heart, and he will be by your side in spirit, always. I know this is a very, very difficult time for you and only time given to us by our Creator, God, will heal all the pain you're feeling. You're a bright, pretty girl with a spunky, spit fire attitude, keep your head up and always think positive thoughts of what God has in store for us all. Have faith in Him and trust in Him that one day He will lead you back into your Daddy's arms and you will forever be protected, once again. Until that beautiful day, make him proud, make each day count. You can come and practice your back flips at my house anytime :.
