Gilbert Tamez Silva

Gilbert Tamez Silva, age 66, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. Gilbert was born on October 18, 1956, at the Oakland Naval Hospital in Oakland, California to Gilbert and Lydia Silva.

Gilbert grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Moody High School and attended Del Mar Jr. College and Texas A&M Kingsville. Gilbert served in the Navy and in his later years enjoyed working as a Barber.

Gilbert loved the Lord and was devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe, The Holy Trinity Knights of Columbus, and other American Legion Posts. He was an active member at Walker Ranch Senior Center, where he enjoyed participating in many group fitness classes and center activities. His personality, and especially his dance moves, were a highlight to all that knew him. He loved the fellowship! Gilbert also acquired a passion for baking, and everyone looked forward to his food creativity.

Gilbert is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Lydia Silva; daughters, Raelene Silva and husband, Angel of Houston, Texas, and Erin Silva of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Angela, Isabel, and Angel, soon to be here grandson Gilbert; sisters, Julie Silva of San Antonio, and Anna Baker of Austin, Texas; nieces, Vanessa Silva Carpenter; Amanda Rodriguez; and Jacqueline Rodriguez, Morgan Baker and nephew, Cameron Baker and great niece, Brianna Acosta.

A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.A reception will follow after the Memorial Mass.
