Gloria Duerre Shope

Gloria Duerre Shope entered into rest on June 29, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born in Bristol, South Dakota to the late Dewey and Stella Duerre. She was a longtime member of the Houston Junior Forum and was an avid bridge player. Gloria was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Gilbert Shope, and her siblings, Bob Duerre, Lloyd Duerre, Dee Ann Knebel, Donald Duerre, John Duerre, and Richard Earl Duerre. She is survived by her children, Gloria Kay Landefeld and her husband, Garth, Barbara Deason and her husband, Ted, and Robert Shope and his wife, Kelly; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5th from 6-8:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday, July 6th at 11:00 am at Cross Roads Church; 8102 Midcrown Dr; Windcrest, TX 78239. The burial will be on Tuesday, July 17th at 9:30 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Cross Roads Church.
