Gregg was born on October 30th, 1955 in Gardena, CA. He was born to Mayo and Vivian. He grew up with three sisters and 1 brother in Redondo Beach, CA. He loved to play baseball, spend time with friends, squabble with his siblings, drive his mustang, and beat on the drums. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1973. Gregg was jack of all trades. He started out working for Royal Business Machines and was transferred to San Antonio, TX in 1982 on the promise it would not snow that far south. He was quickly disappointed after the record-breaking snowfall in 1985. Royal Business Machines was acquired in 1984 by Konica. He worked as service manager for 14 years. During this same time, he built his own business installing real estate signs in and throughout the San Antonio area. Throughout the years he developed a reputation as a handy man. He worked at Home Depot for the past 10 years. He was known as “the Cowboy” by coworkers and customers because of his iconic cowboy hat and was sought after for his knowledge as a plumbing associate.
Gregg was a very self-less man. He was a role model for his children, a rock and shoulder for his siblings, a philanthropist for his charity and cornerstone for his wife. Gregg always gave his time and knowledge to friends in need. He supported his wife and was president in their non-profit organization, In Dog We Trust. They rescued and trained 100s of dogs for veterans in San Antonio, TX.
Gregg is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Cherry Belinda Ann Jenkins; his son, Phillip Jenkins (Amy) of Carver, MN; his daughter, Melissa Prewitt (Michael) of San Antonio, TX; his 5 grandchildren, Natalie Jenkins, Paige Jenkins, Tristin Prewitt, James Prewitt, and Alexander Prewitt; his siblings, Karen Helmbrecht (Royce), Mayo Jenkins II (Kathleen), Deneen Vargas (Rubin), and Renee McMullen (Ron); Mike Vasquez (JoAnn); mother-in-law Ann Moon; his aunt Slyvia Bustamantes; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
