

Gregory Arthur Wlodkowski, age 61, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, son of Elaine (Amy) Wlodkowski Eklund and Leonard S. Wlodkowski. Greg proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a tactical aircraft specialist, and as a crew chief on the F-4 and F-15 fighter planes. He served in the Persian Gulf War and was assigned to multiple overseas locations, earning him the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon. He was also awarded many medals and recognitions including the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award and the National Defense Service Medal. Greg retired in 1997 and lived in San Antonio, Texas for the past 20+ years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War and a member of the American Legion.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Leonard S. Wlodkowski and his step father, Richard H. Eklund. He is survived by his loving mother, Elaine (Amy) Eklund, his caring and devoted brother, Jeffrey J Amy (Marcia), his step brother, Steven Eklund, his nephew Alexander A. Amy (Nina), his niece Anna E. Cole (Jonathan) and his great niece Jenna C. Cole. He is also survived by his Aunt Margaret Johnson and cousins Bill Amy and Kim Byrne, as well as other cousins in Michigan.
The family is grateful to his longtime friends, Margie Warren and Tom Hampton, for their kindness and care, as well as to his caring medical team, especially Norma, his home health nurse.
A private graveside service and interment, officiated by Fr. Kevin Shanahan, M.S.C., will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
