

Gus Henry Haensel, age 89, was called home by his heavenly Savior on Sunday, December 28, 2014 to be reunited with his beloved wife of 54 years, Della Haensel, his parents, Josephine and Gus Haensel and loved ones in Heaven. He was born in San Antonio on June 4, 1925. While attending Edgewood High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 3 years combat duty on the USS Crescent City.
He returned home after the war to work in the family business while going to San Antonio College for Mechanical Engineering and Drafting. After working at Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. in the lab helping in the designing and testing of Friedrich’s first A/C window units, he started his own Haensel’s Air Conditioning and Heating Business. He became a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineering Society in 1956 and became president for 2 terms. He was a long-time active member of Herman Sons, Anton Wenzel Lodge and became president for 2 terms.
He was an active member with the Angler’s Club of San Antonio and as devoted member of St. Mary Magdalene’s Catholic Church. His love of life, going places and meeting people is what kept him full of life. He will forever live in our hearts, never forgotten and dearly missed.
He is survived by his 3 children, Beverly Becker and husband Dusty, Charlie Haensel and Wayne Haensel. Rest and sleep in peace our loving father.
