

Retired Command Sergeant Major Harold W. Flammia Sr., was a veteran who served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam as a medic, Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 30 years, receiving numerous awards and decorations. He was called to be with the Lord on August 3, 2014, at the age of 90.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Teresa Flammia, his parents, both born in Italy and numerous brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sons Harold William Flammia Jr. and wife Rose Mary, Daniel A. Flammia, and wife Sheran, his daughter Mary Terry, his three grandchildren, Gina Lowell and Husband Jeff, Michael Flammia and his wife Bethany, Steve Ornelaz and his wife Lourdes, and six great-grandchildren, Shelby, Sidney, Anthony, Gabriella, Victoria and Rose Mary.
His great passions in life were hunting, fishing, and taking care of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. CSM Flammia fired his last shot, and is now in the hands of God Almighty. Teresa is waiting and at last she can see “Hatchie” again.
Visitation will take place Monday August 11, 2014 from 5:00pm to 6pm at Sunset Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00pm. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00am Tuesday August 12, 2014 at St Pius X Catholic Church 3303 Urban Crest San Antonio, Texas 78209. Committal services will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road San Antonio, Texas 78209.
