Harold LeRoy Rutzen, age 91, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024. He was born on November 15, 1933, in Pipestone County, Minnesota, to Ferdinand and Hilda Rutzen.
Harold was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served with honor for 21 years. His commitment to service was matched by his unwavering faith, which guided him throughout his life. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat; son, Ken; parents, Ferdinand and Hilda; brothers, Vernon and Allen; sister, Norma Frost; brother-in-law, Marvin Frost; sister-in-law, Joyce; and son-in-law, Rex Linn.
Harold leaves behind his daughters Carol Linn, Sylvia Carrizales (Adrian), and Sandra Williams; brothers Wayne and Donald (Nancy); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
Harold was known for his strength, kindness, and loyalty, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Harold's life will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Fort Sam National Cemetery with Pastor Raymond Gonzales officiating.
