

Harwood Steves Huntress, age 50, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on December 30, 2024, following complications from Fragile X Syndrome. He was born on October 13, 1974, in San Antonio to parents Lynn Harwood Huntress and Logan Peterson Huntress.
Harwood, who was lovingly known as “Woody” by his family and many friends lived a full life. A proud Mule, he was a 1996 graduate in the Special Education program at Alamo Heights High School. Woody loved fishing and boating in Rockport and spent his summers at Camp Huntington in New York. Woody was an athlete, competing on the bowling and soccer teams in the Special Olympics, and won many medals for his abilities.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Logan Peterson Huntress, his maternal grandparents, Dorothy Steves Harwood Hindman and Loflin Earl Harwood, and his paternal grandparents, Corinne Peterson Huntress and Frank Granger Huntress, Jr.
Woody is survived by his mother Lynn Huntress, brother Logan Huntress Jr., sister Dottie Huntress Cooper, brother-in-law, Doug Cooper, nephews Peterson and Flin Cooper, niece Adelaide Cooper, uncle Edward Steves Harwood, Aunts Diana Huntress and Joan Huntress, numerous cousins, loving godmothers, Judy Crawford and Jane Satel, and his wonderful family and friends at R&K Specialized Homes.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Zeke Hernandez, Tania Flores, Stefanie Dillard, and the entire R&K Specialized Homes staff who have been his family for over 30 years. Special thanks also to the incredible end-of-life care from Embrace Hospice and Kayla Delgado.
A celebration of Woody’s life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Pl, San Antonio, TX 78212 with a reception following.
