

Hector proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Surgical Tech with the 647th Medical Clearance Company during WWII. His time during the service brought him to Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. During his time, he was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, as well as World War II Victory Medal.
After his honorable discharge, Hector worked at the Ft. Sam Houston Commissary until his retirement from civil service. His hobbies included TV and radio repair.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestina G. Garcia; grandsons, Richard Stephen Hernandez and Manuel Javier (Javi) Ramos; as well as 1 brother and 3 sisters.
Hector is survived by his daughter, Diana Wilson, daughter, Sandra Hernandez (Richard), son, Hector Garcia, Jr. (Joanne), daughter, Cindy Trevino (Eric), son, Ricardo Garcia (Lithia); 9 grandchildren; Rick Ramos, Jr., Steve Hernandez, Nicole Cobb, Amanda Saenz, Dr. Jayme Trevino, Kimberly Trevino, Abrianna Garcia, Atleigh and Mckenna Garcia; 9 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for his caregivers, Marivel, Henry, Isabella, and Fina, especially for their care and compassion.
They would also like to extend thank you to the Grace Hospice nurses/staff and to the Visiting Physicians Association.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019, at Porter Loring on McCullough.
